Secretary Kerry, sometimes when a person says he wishes death to you and your entire nation…

It means he doesn’t want to be your friend.

What the camera sees...

What the camera sees…

What Sec. Kerry sees.

What Sec. Kerry sees.

It’s all right. The Poli Sci course at Yale was a long time ago and probably didn’t cover that. But someone should have mentioned it when you became Secretary of State.

About Joel

You shouldn't ask these questions of a paranoid recluse, you know.

  1. Ben says:

But Joel, I do business all the time which folks who aren’t necessarily my friend. Being a “friend” is no requirement for an arm’s length transaction, and I don’t recall anyone recently making the case that Iran was USA’s friend.

Perhaps more relevant to this case; just like our own politicians, Khamenei must say things that appeal to his domestic base. If that “base” happens to be brain dead, then said politician is often forced into the position of going on the record with brain dead pronouncements.

  2. Paul Bonneau says:

[vowing to defy American policies in the region]

I’m having a hard time conjuring up an image where the guy could do anything but defy American policies in the region. Never mind Iranians; Hell I’m American and I defy American policies in the region.
