Monsoon ended abruptly, and my satellite modem is coming back into service far less abruptly. Whatever the rain, or atmospheric conditions, or whatever, killed is slowly rising from the grave. Last night I had a weak connection from sundown till bedtime, and that hasn’t happened in months.
So even if (even when) the Wildblue technician calls to cancel again today, I’m gradually getting a little more connectivity. Not the sort of quality I’d choose to pay for, but not nothing.
This is the first morning I fired up the woodstove.

In a month or two I’ll have acclimated to the point where 50o indoors isn’t worth the bother of a fire, but right now it feels kind of good. I also sadly note that the fire paranoia that plagued me all last winter hasn’t completely gone away, but it has at least faded to the point where a rumble in the stove doesn’t completely freak me out in the absence of any bad symptoms. That chimney fire was a gift that just keeps on giving, if you’ll forgive the cliche. Of course it doesn’t hurt that I just cleaned the chimney.

That connectivity is a mixed blessing. It’s a treat to be seeing more of you, but if/when Wildblue ever shows up, you know the tech will say it’s working fine and doesn’t need fixing. That’s my kind of luck anyway.
Yeah, I’m kind of expecting that.
Of course he missed another appointment today, and that makes five…
What’s behind “noncombustible” wall? Hope you don’t say wooden studs.
