…comes Claire’s latest…
Friday Freedom Question: Why is it always about fighting?
But given that the main thing we do with freedom is enjoy it, given that it is, in most of our lives, as lovely and easy a thing as pure air, why the sticky association with strife, battle, bloodshed, anguish, and all things bad?
Except that’s the whole problem for most people; enjoying it is precisely what they do not do. They fantasize about it, they bitch about the lack of it, but you can’t enjoy it until you build some. Ain’t nobody gonna build it for you.

ACTION (of some kind) must be taken.

Claire writ:
“why the sticky association with strife, battle, bloodshed, anguish, and all things bad?”
Because that’s generally what the ‘bad folk’ offer to bring to the table if you don’t do it their way. Reason/ing doesn’t generally set them back too much – ridicule has merits and risks. Art and stealth are fun if you’ve the luxury… Shunning is an interesting idea – I do a fair amount of this and it definitely puts a dent in the social calendar.
The willingness to go tit-for-tat has tried and true merits – ‘condition yellow’ and all that.
