Wow, it rained from noon yesterday until sometime just before 10 at night. I’m not sure just when, because it was raining when I fell asleep in my chair at 8:30, and wasn’t when I woke up at ten. The wash ran twice yesterday. I’ve never seen it do that. But two big widely-spaced storms crossed the plateau and canyons to the southeast, and they empty into the wash. So two flash floods in one day. Sometimes the wash doesn’t flood twice in a year.
Good thing I take care of Landlady’s chickens every day, because they don’t strictly need that and it may not be safe to go there now until afternoon. Assuming the storms don’t roll back in this afternoon, which is probable. I may not be going anywhere today.
To say the least my internet connection is being very wonky – in fact this is the first time I’ve been able to connect at all since mid-afternoon yesterday. Just as well; I need to let this sunny interlude charge the batteries.
ETA: Darn good thing I was able to get Ian’s tractor out of the wash, too. Because that place where I buried the axle? ALLLLL different now.
One of my coworkers didn’t want to come to work (via a paved 3-lane highway) cuz “it’s raining and I’m afraid”. Our supervisor was unimpressed. What a wuss. Stay safe.
