The official rifle of InRange?

A good messy non-NFA means of swiftly turning money into noise.

Go here first, watch the video, then after you are properly inflamed with lust you can go here and get your very own. Pricey, but I think you’ll agree life is really not possible without one.

Keep your bolt action deer rifle, burn the rest.

John Browning once made a full-auto version of a Model 94. Doesn’t mean it made any sense…

Didn’t Jeff Cooper used to say he hopes his enemies always use full auto?

  3. Steve_in_CA says:

Heh, legal in California, but with only 10 rounds, why bother.

  4. Kentucky says:

Yes, Cooper did say something to that effect. The video, however, seems to show pretty accurate results on-target. Granted, this with a bipod and fairly solid position, but still . . .

  5. Paul Bonneau says:

I guess that was the point of Stoner’s design. The M14 was no good full auto. The M16 directed the recoil impulse straight back (little muzzle rise), while not having much recoil impulse in the first place due to the little bullets and the heavy buffer spring. So it worked a lot better full auto. Whether that was a worthwhile aim is another question…

  6. Kentucky says:

Yeah, though Cooper’s comment was that the “poodle shooters” were handy for spraying the bush to keep the bad guys’ heads down while you moved, but little else . . . he favoring “real rifles” defined as being at least thirty caliber for actual serious work. This opinion was shared by many in a position to know. A similar discussion took place vis-a-vis 9mm vs .45ACP, of course.

Personally, I do not wish to be “downwind” of any of them.

FWIW, I have a whole slew of .30- and .32 caliber “battle rifles”, but if I were knowingly going into a gunfight I would take an AR. The combination of magazine capacity, minimal recoil, flat trajectory, excellent accuracy, and excellent reliability makes them a bit boring on the range but outstanding combat rifles. IMO.

  8. Joel says:

I confess I was of the kneejerk “no mouseguns, real men only use full-power thirty-cal rifles” school for far longer than was really smart. 50 years of unending combat have proven the AR’s utility, if not anything else good.
