Did something rather foolish this morning. Day dawned overcast, having rained a bit overnight, but started to clear before nine so I decided to go do a gig for Former Neighbor J, the neighbor formerly known as Geiger Counter Guy. He wants me to ship him a bunch of stuff including all the remaining geiger counter parts, but first they must be inventoried.
This is far easier said than done, since in the Spring I emptied his entire house into the portable building where once we built geiger counters. It is stuffed from rear to front, so much that you need to take care how you close the front garage door lest you break something.
So that meant getting to his inventory would require me to tunnel into this hoarder’s paradise, moving a bunch of other stuff outdoors…

So that I could get to the geiger counter parts, haul them outside, sort them into several different stacks and count them…

This took hours, since some of it was buried very deep indeed. And I swore I would never move that king-size mattress by myself, ever again…
Anyway I finally got it all out of the building, just in time for the very sudden rainstorm. Cardboard melted before my very eyes as I frantically spent the next 20 minutes or so undoing the work of hours, but I don’t think any of the very well-packed components were damaged. At least I hope not.
In the meantime I got a good cold soaking, and though I’m home and in warm dry clothes I can’t seem to quite get warm. Today was supposed to see the end of the rainy weather, and in fact at this moment the sun is shining. Tomorrow’s supposed to be warm and dry but I’ve got another job that’s gone wanting because I hurt my hands at its beginning and I need to get back to it. I’m really up to my armpits in at least prospectively paying work at the moment, but all week long one thing or another always seems to prevent my actually doing any of it.

Just God pissing on you, Joel. 😉
