Y’know what’s weird?

Weird is running a slice’o’life blog when you’re a privacy-obsessed misfit. It can make for some uncomfortable moments.

See, all my friends are either freedomistas or desert hermits. Or both. You know. Weirdos. On the blog, when I talk about them I’m usually circumspect. To be truthful, I’m not always entirely…truthful. See, I don’t talk about my friends and neighbors behind their backs. (Well, maybe Darrel the Former Cop.) They know about the blog, and a few even follow it. It’s like Roberta X and her starship: There are things it’s best not to say. Or if you say it, make up a story and say it a different way. All these people are real, though they’re not all just the way I’ve described them. And they’ve got a right not to be blabbed about on some stupid blog, right?

The reason I mention this: I’ve talked about my neighbors D&L and their very cool house, and I’d like to show it to you. But I’m not going to, because they get a vote and they don’t want me to. I understand that, I don’t even like strangers to know my little Lair really exists. A few people have recently donated to the blog, including – if you can believe this – a big sack of good Canadian oatmeal. At least two of these people I know from relatively way back, and I’m pretty sure they don’t want me telling stories out of school so I won’t mention them here even though I’ve thanked them privately.

There are a lot of stories in the naked desert. Some of them I can tell, and some I shut up about.

It’s disappointing not to get to see pictures, but I certainly understand not wanting to turn the blog into Google street view, desert Hermit version. Just relay congrats to D&L on their excellent success.

Now I’m picturing a little Google street view car stuck in the wash 🙂

One of the things that I like when I read your blog is the sense that you are a man of integrity in an internet populated mostly by blogs run by manipulators and scam artists. It’s good that you have respected D&L’s privacy. I think that D&L have a good friend and neighbor in you.

One thing I would add to what Liberty News wrote… Now I’m picturing a little Google street view car stuck in the wash with bullet holes in it for trespassing. :^)
