You guys didn’t have to get a new truck just for me…

Last week my neighbor L started having transmission troubles with her big truck. Might just be a shift solenoid going south, might be worse.

Yesterday they announced that when they took me into town for my laser thingy, they were going to pick up their new truck. Huh?

Well, the old one is fifteen years old and the thought of pouring maybe thousands of dollars into its transmission spooked them. So they traded it. The new (3-years-old) truck is a king-cab with a full-size back seat, and on the way home I said, “This is really nice, guys. Much roomier. But you didn’t have to get a new truck just for me.” They’ve been timing their trips to the big town to coincide with my eye appointments since December.

Anyway, I got my eye zapped. They only did the right one, which is good, because I can still sort of see. I’m almost completely blind in the right, and that’s an improvement. Earlier this afternoon I was completely blind in the right.

It has not been the most pleasant experience of my life. The actual laser business was quick and pain-free. Then the numbing drops wore off, and since then I’ve been in quite a lot of discomfort. Plus I can’t see. I got yet another prescription for eye drops I’m supposed to take for the next four days, to deal with inflammation. The doctor said I should start getting my vision back sometime late this evening, and I’m looking forward to that. I sure hope it doesn’t hurt this bad for four days. It’s not screaming agony or anything, just really uncomfortable.

I’m going to stop trying to type now. All misspellings are the ophthalmologist’s fault.

Wouldnt it have been easier and cheaper to do it yourself with that lazer pointer I sent you?

Thanks for the update! Once your vision is back, is this supposed to improve your eyesight or just relieve pressure and halt progression?

Glad to hear it went well. Do you grow fennel or cook with fennel seeds much? I need to start using it more for its eyesight benefits, might delay getting my eyes zapped by a couple years.

Hang in there, Joel; the unpleasant stuff is temporary. BTW, I’m jealous- nobody got me a new truck when I went under the knife/laser.

  5. Me not you says:

Glad it went well. Us one-eyed bastards gotta be careful.
(Lost vision in my good eye (yea, the GOOD eye) when I had a stroke some time back)

Hang in there, Joel. Sending you lots of positive energy. 🙂 Just take care of yourself and follow the doctor’s orders the best you can. Once in a while they do know what they are talking about. 🙂 My ophthalmologist was the best doctor I ever met… and I’ve met a LOT of them.

Yay! Joel is back and now he can let us out of Gitmo … wait … why is he waving his hands all over the place ?

It’s good to hear that you are on the mend.

    Stay Safe,
