It’s a family thing.

We sleep better with cats. Cats sleep better with us.

I kinda miss having a cat around. But the mortality rate is too high. Absent any real need (since the boys are considerably more efficient at keeping the Lair rodent-free than cats are) it just seems like animal cruelty to keep bringing cats here to face inevitable death-by-predator.

But still. Kinda miss it.

Cats are funny creatures – one of my cats will jump in my wife’s lap and fall asleep easily. The other cat isn’t nearly as comfortable with her – he is brought to her and jumps off as soon as my wife gives him a chance. In my case, the same cat that stays with my wife will only set close by, just out of reach. The male cat does the same, only behind my shoulder where he can be close by, resting against me. Like I said – weird.

That all changes when cat food is to be distributed though, bestest buddies ever (I wuv you – now feed me dammit! :^)
