I know that in his way he is an extremely important historic character. But a statue? Really? He was also just a clueless schlub. I can’t imagine anybody but a Serbian arguing that he’s famous for anything good, and even then it’s a stretch. Can we agree that “accidentally started WWI” is something we’d rather not have on our resume?
Reminds me of another statue of an unlikely hero…
…which is completely disrespectful of the horror that Princip’s action triggered. But I’m far more inclined to pin the blame for that where it belongs, on a certain Kaiser and the myriad august personages who could have kept the horror from happening if they’d, I dunno, done their frickin’ jobs.
