Now that kinda hurts my heart a little bit.

I need to cut that old recliner up and haul it off to J’s Dumpster, but there’s no rush. The Dumpster’s full at the moment, and the day is cold and windy.

Ghost doesn’t think there’s any rush, either…

That's his "you suck" face.

That’s his “you suck” face.

…’cause he’s been there all afternoon.

  1. You need a porch with a little overhang, Joel. That chair should stay outside just for Ghost. I have a feeling that would be easier on all of you in the long run. Poor old guy. 🙂

  2. Ben says:

Since you gotta tear it up anyhow, you might gain some firewood from the deal.

  3. Zelda says:

When you cut it up can you cobble together and save part of it as a dog bed for him?

  4. Wyowanderer says:

    He’s a pouty little fella ain’t he?

  5. Joel says:

He can be kind of a drama queen about certain things, yes. In particular he does not like it when I make changes in his living/sleeping arrangements.

We have four recliners in the living room. Three of them are for people, and the other one is for my little puppy dog. (The little puppy dog is an 65 pound Boxer, but yeah, she’s my little puppy dog, and thinks she’s a lap dog every day or two.)

At any rate, it should be noted that the last time we upgraded our recliners, “her” recliner was one of the two that left. She was totally indignant for a month or more, because the one she now had was one that she’d been told to get out of about a thousand times over the previous six years or so.

You need a porch, so you can put the recliner and a sofa on it. Hey….That’s what folks do down here, and about eight months out of the year it’s useful. You just got to cover the porch so it doesn’t rain on them too much.

Yeah, a covered porch is on the to-do list, though not near the top. When I built the cabin I brought the loft floor joists out the front two feet to provide a balcony/fire escape and serve as connection points for the porch rafters. But when it’s going to happen, I don’t know. Certainly not in time to save that nasty old recliner.

  8. I’m guessing you could make Ghost’s day if you’d just move it back inside and make room for it somehow! Sleepin’ on the floor can be cold! That chair probably carries a lot of history to him – surely in the olfactory sense…

He won’t mind just ’cause it’s been snowed and rained on a bit – that’s just more history!

He’s a dog that’s known comforts – like sausage. He knows a bit about ‘how the other 1/2 lives’ – hard not to become attached.

Bet he takes it hard when you start taking it apart for transport/salvage!
