Looks cool, doesn’t it? If I had an AR I’d at least toy with the idea of having one around, though I like to think I’d never carry it in public unless the public consisted of just under 100 brain-craving zombies.
But there’s an itsy-bitsy problem with this bit of badass gear. Two, actually…
Click for embiggenment.
This is even sillier than, though not as expensive as, the $435 muzzle brake. $300 will still buy at least a few rounds of 5.56. Just saying.

It’s a Canadian thing… Kind of like having the fastest car around and only having a 1 gallon tank.
MJR (from Canada)
That’s why the CA. I live in will always kick the shit out of the Ca. MJR lives when the inevitable cross border Ca/CA war happens. We have more people and our silly craptastic 100 round drums hold 10 WHOLE ROUNDS! Not a mere 5….but a whole 10! In your face Canucks! Ha! WEEEEEE ARE THE CHAMPIONS>>>>>>>

ROFLMAO @Buck
@ Buck… That’s rich coming from granola country (the land of fruits, nuts and flakes). BTW you may want to watch this YouTube video before you get all high and mighty…

@ Buck, I ask you, kind sir, to forgive my previous rant. I am just off night shift with only 3 hours of sleep and only scanned your post. Now that I have read it I feel like a knob.
OK, but don’t let it happen again or I am SOOOOOOO taking your whole damn country to an AA meeting!

In Canada, you can still get a Chi-Com SKS for 75 bucks.
But it’s pinned to 5 rounds in the magazine.
They have some very, very weird laws. Shotguns have to be 26″ long, but no barrel restriction, just an overall length one. Not moving there…
However, there’s no Carry, mags are 5 for a rifle or 10 for a pistol (a pistol magazine can be used in a rifle…woo hoo…ten rounds then!).
I have, however, heard that the mags are…pinned to the 5 and 10 round capacity. And that it’d be illegal to even think about drilling out the pop rivet used to keep the mag at that capacity…but if one wanted to drill them out it’d be pretty easy from what I heard.
Now, now. I’m sure nobody here would ever think of breaking a law.
In Canada a mag for a semi auto can only hold a max of 5 rounds. But if that same mag will fit a pistol then it is classed as a pistol mag and can have 10 rounds because pistols can have 10 round mags. If the firearm is a semi auto then the barrel cannot be shorter than 18.5 inches. But if the firearm is a single shot, pump, bolt or lever action the barrel length can be as short as you want so long as the firearm is no shorter than 26 inches.
Regarding the 5 round mags, if a person wanted a large mag all that would have to be done is to go to the states, buy the item and take it apart and mail the parts home in different envelops.. When the mag is taken apart it is not a mag anymore, it is simply parts and there are no law preventing anyone from owning mag parts. Boy there are stories of how the ‘gang that couldn’t shoot straight’ in Ottawa really screwed the pooch regarding guns in Canada.
Here are two examples of what can be picked up with no problem here in the “great white north”… All that is needed is to show a firearm license to the seller, nothing is recorded.
