Quite some time ago somebody, I think Big Brother, sent me a few packages of DIY pizza…

…and as pizza, especially for a single guy old enough not to be able to inhale an entire pizza in an afternoon, it has its limitations. I opened a box last week, made one pizza, and could barely finish it. The remainder stood around rather longer than was quite proper waiting for me to finish the package.
Today I finally decided that the box wasn’t going to get finished – at least not as designed. But I couldn’t let that open half-can of ground beef go to waste, and there was this package of perfectly good ready-mix pizza dough. And you know what I’ve never successfully made?

Meat pie! And it turns out, as expected, pizza dough is perfect while bread dough is not.

Yum! Needs some brown gravy, though. I’ll do that when I eat the rest this evening or tomorrow.

That looks delicious, and as others have implied there are endless possibilities, such as empanadas, calzone, & stromboli.
Yeah. Today’s baking day, and I plan to research pizza dough recipes.
Nothing to do with pizza dough, but that canned beef, random canned veggies, and snowflake potatoes should make a passable shepherds pie.
Chef Boyardee has a nice idea, but they never include enough cheese. I prefer to make my own pizza.
My pizza crust recipe is my favorite, and the easiest I ever saw:
Mix 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp sugar, and 1 package yeast into 2 cups flour. Add 1 cup warm water and mix well. Coat the dough with a couple of tablespoons of oil, and flip to coat both sides. Cover and let it sit undisturbed in a warm place for at least 30 min. It can sit longer if necessary.
Ragu sells pizza sauce in jars that are smaller than pasta sauce jars, but it is still enough sauce for at least 3 pizzas. Might be too much for you.
I aint it ironic how im eating pizza while i read this.
