Maybe she thinks she needs to destroy the constitution to save it?

Pelosi: More Gun Control Needed Because ‘We Took an Oath to Protect and Defend’

Pelosi held a House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee hearing on “Gun Violence Prevention: A Call to Action,” where she endorsed the gun control proposals President Barack Obama unveiled today.

“Earlier this month, shortly after Newtown, all members of Congress took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution and the American people,” Pelosi said. “To protect and defend. That is our first responsibility.”

Presumably, Ms. Pelosi believes that the only way to “protect and defend” the constitution is to dig it up root and branch. If so, kudos to her for the great energy with which she has gone about her task, on this and so many other issues.

So I suppose if I swear “to shoot and kill rabid dogs”, I can pretend “to shoot and kill” is my first responsibility, and then randomly put that into action however I want. According to her, I’d be upholding my oath if I came after her* in that case. On second thought, I’m not sure sure I wouldn’t be.

*Harpy Pelosi need not worry, since I have never taken that oath.

WTH? I did take the oath and I’m ‘sposed to protect and defend with my bare hands? I can do it empty-handed, but my gun is a hell of a lot more efficient. Easier, too.

I too took that oath. I don’t recall there being anything in it that said I was to do so by pissing on the document I was to protect and defend. I seem to recall something about refusing clearly unconstitutional orders….some babble about some set of rules that had some funny initials that all too often get set to ignore…UCMJ I think they were. Nor was I told that the oath expired. Ever.
