And that’s why I never throw random hardware away…

I was chopping tumbleweeds in Ian’s driveway when I noticed that my pistol appeared to have gotten awfully loose on my belt. Looked at my shadow, and…

ALL the bolts had worked loose between the holster and the belt attachment. If I still had them all it would be a miracle. Tired of working anyway, I headed home. And as I took the holster off at my counter, a black bolt hit the floor. Turned out that was the second one to part company with the holster…

…but happily nothing else was missing, and the bolt shared thread size with other fasteners of the same sort I had squirreled away in my desk. Because I never throw anything away if it’s potentially useful. Parts of my yard can be kind of embarrassing because they look like junk piles and I try not to take the habit into crazy cat lady territory – but it does come in handy from time to time.

A small dab of silicon sealant on threaded bolts/screws can substitute for LockTite, and will come back apart with a bit of effort, but no heat needed.

I’m with you in that I don’t throw random hardware away. I’ve learned that within a day or two of tossing that random extra nut, bolt or screw away, I will find myself in a situation where something will inevitably need that random nut, bolt or screw.

Keeping some extra “junk” around is almost mandatory. Much cheaper than a trip to the store.

The sooner you find a better option the better off you’ll be for an EDC that is.

Kept finding small silver screw bits on the carpet next to where I dress. Couldn’t figure it out. They were the fasteners keeping my Wilson Combat belt together. Have 3. Need four. So. Pay attention to small things?

My son asked for help putting highway bars on his Yamaha.
Showed me a parts list for bolts.
Nope , what’s not in these coffee cans full of metric stainless bolts we can get local.
I brought him to the fastener wall at Ace Hardware.

Leather and heavy thread stitching… Ain’t had a problem yet!

Leather and stitching. Ain’t had a problem yet.

IMHO holster design and “technology” have gone quite a bit astray. To me, all the “features” on many of the current offerings are nothing more than clickbait for the ‘net-addicted among us. As I said, JMHO.

I dunno. Ignoring yesterday’s misadventure – which could have been avoided if I’d only learn my lesson about securing screws and bolts on things like this – I quite like this holster. It fits firmly to a good belt, not sliding back and forth all the time, presents the pistol just the way I like, is moderately adjustable, moderately protective, and generally appears to want to last a long time.
