    That’s banana yucca, and the flowers produce a long disgusting-looking fruit which I’ve heard can be dried and mashed up and baked into a sort of flat bread that completely tastes like shit. Haven’t tried it myself.

  4. Yucca is very edible. I nibble on the flower petals all the time (well, during the brief time they are available). They don’t really have much taste.
