As a trapper, I guess I pretty much suck.

100_4586Got three kills overnight: Two birds and a field mouse that wasn’t quite quick enough. Zero packrats.

Found that bird on the left under the Jeep’s hood, but I’m pretty sure it’s not my culprit. Just the unluckiest Mexican Jay in history.

Birds? Now that’s very strange. I would never have expected birds to get under the hood like that. You live in a weird place, I think.

Keep at it Joel. Success will eventually be yours. And that mouse looked plenty big enough to nip your sensor wires.

looks like you need a bucket mousetrap

a gallon of glycol in the bucket ensures their demise.

I’ve had more than one instance of chewed vehicle wiring that was strictly the work of regular mice, not rats at all. This time of year I frequently check for & remove mouse nests under the hood.

    Progress. Success. Keep at it.

I must admit I know little about your rodents but here in the UK we have a type of fieldmouse called a yelow necked field mouse. They will go into vehicles, houses and buildings and chew most types of plastic. Wire insulation and plastic water pipe seem particular favourites. Crows, magpies and jays often strip the window wiper rubbers but have never heard of them eating wiring! Grey squirrels do, even through mains transmission cable ensuring a rapid death from several thousand bolts and half a neighbourhood without power for several hours!
