It looks as though M’s Dome might actually become M’s Earth-Bermed House before very long. We estimate it will require approximately 2.7 brazillion square yards of dirt to fill and cover the dome and the powerhouse, and after waiting over a year for me to accomplish it, M finally called in a professional. I should know more within a week or so.
In preparation for that, we met at seven this morning and prepared the powerhouse roof for backfilling. The roof is just plywood, and for the 3+ years of its existence it has never been what you’d call waterproof. Reason being, M always intended to cover it with pond liner before burying it. So this morning we did that. We padded all the edges with pipe insulation, laid down and stapled two layers of pond liner, and then hauled up a whole bunch of dirt in buckets and spread it to protect the plastic from the sun. Hopefully that last step will be unnecessary, but you never know.
Then he came with me to J&H’s and helped with shit-shoveling. After lunch at the Secret Lair, we went out to the range and shot footage for another Forgotten Weapons video. This one’s about a WWI French battle rifle and its very odd – and punishing – Turkish variant.
Uncle Joel is tired now.

I love the smile. Ya’ look happy. Go Joel!
