Coldest night yet…

37o in the main cabin when I rolled out around 5:30, and it’s struggling to get above 60. Yesterday temp stayed below freezing all day and the sky was clear so you knew it would get good and cold overnight.

That new(ish – this is its first winter) big pressure gauge on the sink gives instant reassurance that no pipes split overnight. 🙂 I truly think/hope I finally have the insulation issue sorted out well enough I can be confident of getting through a winter without busted pipes – but since this is the first test, confidence is not yet justified. Only hope.

Double coat be damned, Torso Boy considered it a one-human night at minimum. Never came out from under the blankets – I truly don’t know how he breathes through the night – and wanted full-body contact at all times. Roll over to get a tissue from the nightstand, and you can expect a wrestle for bed space before you can go back to sleep.

Doesn’t the propane heater keep things a little warmer than that . . . or do you close the sliding door and only heat the bedroom at night?

37 degrees in the main cabin, that’s chilly. I don’t blame TB one bit for hiding under the covers one bit. The sad thing is it’s still fall, at least for another four days.

Yeah, the bedroom stays in the forties as I set the thermostat to be comfortable with blankets but not so cold it takes an act of will to get out from the blankets. Then I crank it up to sixty when I get up. The bedroom door doesn’t seal completely so some of the heat is lost to the main cabin but it’s not entirely wasted – 37 is warmer than it would have been before the addition.

Wow. Colder in AZ than in Ann Arbor, MI. Bet that doesn’t happen often.

Probably more pleasant here overall, though. That continent-wide weather passed through here over the weekend but we missed getting any precip at all. Not a cloud in the sky at the moment.

Surely you have learned by now to not tempt Mother Nature…
