Common gadgets I never knew about…

battery
So common they’re apparently given away as tchotchkes. I guess it’s just a bigger battery than the one in the phone. Since I never go anywhere I don’t actually have that much use for it, but I still think it’s a cool, simple solution to a real problem for most people. Certainly when I lived in the world my cellphone battery always seemed to be going flat at exclusively the wrong moments.

Interesting indeed, but I do wonder why there simply isn’t a bigger/better battery in the phone to start with? I’ve carried my little TracFone for nearly a year now – just in case of an emergency, but since I hadn’t been using it to make phone calls or anything, I only had to charge it infrequently. Checked it at least once a week, or when I needed to travel, just to be sure.

Now, with my new hearing aids, I can actually understand what people are saying on the telephone, so I will use it more. Will have to check the charge more often.

My best guess is size and weight. This recharger is small enough to be handy, like a cellphone, but it’s half as wide, twice as thick and almost as heavy as the phone. Put them together and we start moving back toward phones with the dimensions of bricks.

Congrats on the new hearing aids, BTW!

Does your new pad ever go dead at inconvenient times or in inconvenient places? That gadget will probably charge that also.

Probably. It has the same connector, so I don’t see why not.
