Doing nice things for the chickens who hate me…

Yeah! Should have done this years ago!

The Fortress of Attitude is covered by an old cargo parachute, which up until today has been supported in the middle by an outrageously complicated and intrusive wooden framework that took up the middle of the yard. Last year around this time I moved Landlady’s portable coop into the yard, and between the two of them it was hard to find space to move about at all.

I’m getting ready to put the portable coop back, for the new pullets. Also, I hope to soon replace that now-ragged parachute. The big wooden thing had to go.

And it occurred to me that if I simply put up an eight-foot board at the front of the Fortress and then attach screw eyes to it and the back of the storage shed to the rear, I can stretch 550 cord which will work better than the framework ever did and not be in the way at all.

So today I finally did.

I did all this in the middle of a chicken riot, of course…
