Duct tape, the hermit’s friend

Hey, remember this?

Yeah, I know I mocked it when a generous reader first sent it here back in October, but that little BLF has kind of grown on me in the meantime and I take it everywhere. Unfortunately the belt clip was the only thing holding it in my oversized holster, and within a couple of weeks the clip fulfilled my prediction and went spinning off who-knows-where one day.

That left me with a problem, because the light has a bad habit of falling out of the holster at every opportunity and I don’t want to lose it. When it fell out last night while I was undressing, I had an epiphany:

I had completely failed to unleash the power of my fully armed and operational roll of duct tape. What was I thinking?

Works, too. 🙂

. . . and a handy way to keep some of that material on hand for that ‘ohcrapIgottafixthatNOW’ job. Good tip – I intend to do that with my flashlight as well.

I have some of my better epiphanies while undressing…

I carry a Maglight XL50 (3aaa light) and have used bicycle inner tube pieces to cover it. It has several layers on it, which keep it from falling out of my pocket, getting damaged when dropped off of a wing, and gives my teeth something to bite into when I need my hands free.

Chomper saving bike tube is smart ^^

I don’t have a bike tube that small. But the tape also works for that.
