First Person Shooter

Ian and I were out at the range this morning, shooting footage for a couple of Forgotten Weapons videos. Regular FW readers know he recently acquired a bunch of new camera equipment, and among this was one of those tiny GoPro things you strap on your head. So when we were done with the standard footage, to spice things up he put on the GoPro and fired the two rifles we were doing video on.

Went back to the Cave to review the footage, right? And it was the first time he’d done this with a rifle and a GoPro, and we looked at the footage and started laughing out loud. It’s got a really wide lens, so the rifle pretty much fills the shot, and it looks exactly like one of those dumb first person shooter computer games. Which is kind of eerie when you consider that those games became popular – what? Fifteen or twenty years before the GoPro was even invented?
