On the way to morning shit-shoveling I heard on the radio about another mass shooting. This one in an elementary school, for God’s sake. Double-digit body count.
My first thought, I do confess, was “Is the Brady Bunch paying these guys to do this or what?”
Second thought: “God, I’m a jerk.”
Turns out Claire was thinking along the same lines, at just about the same time.
Seen somewhere else, with the same anticipation:
After a shooting spree, they always want to take the guns away from the people who didn’t do it.
– William Burroughs

I’m always suspect of these things. Cant help it and don’t apologize for it.
Regardless of my thoughts it doesn’t change the fact that the other side will always take advantage of those situations to push their agenda.
Your quote says it all.
My first thought was why didn’t a teacher, or the principle, or a janitor, or the school resource officer put an end to that fellow riki-tik. They all serve in loco parentis.. why weren’t they prepared to protect the children?
The media has long known of the phenomenon of “suicide clusters” and has shown an unusual amount of tact in avoiding reporting the details of gruesome suicides in order to avoid pushing unstable folk over the edge into copycat territory.
And yet…
And why, pray tell, do people entrust their precious children to these government indoctrination camps and killing grounds? Take the children OUT of these “schools.” Arming the liberals who mostly work there doesn’t seem like a viable option. It runs totally counter to the indoctrination they dish out.
I always have to choke off the urge to wander in to Elias Alias territory and scream “MK Ultra” but I can’t not note the funny way these things always SEEM to happen when there is some hubbub in the media about some national or global gun control agenda being pushed, thwarted, lamented, etc.
Odd timing and no coincidence that these things always resemble a canned hunt being played out in the most notorious of victim disarmament zones.
Buck,
The timing isn’t odd at all. Read my link. It’s called the “Werther effect”. Suicides tend to cluster and attract copycats when they are publicized; they’ve known about it since the Eighteenth Century.
I asked the question elsewhere. If Obama had made AWB noises threefour months ago, he would probably not be in office right now. If he tries an AWB say a year before the end of his time in office, well, he won’t have time to do much.
And as far as I can tell the next head honcho won’t be a Democrat.
So, for the progressives, when would be the best time to start pushing an AWB? When is the best time for some kind of tragedy, and is there possibly a “better” target for getting every one up in, well, not arms?
I was (of course) accused of tinfoil hattery.
I don’t think it’s the Brady bunch, neither your bunch nor ours is competent enough. However, Bracken didn’t suck his storyline completely our of thin air, and these coincidences make me want to buy lottery tickets.
