Poor Little Bear. He’s got this thing, which I do believe I should take more seriously. Sometimes he has, er, digestive problems shall we say. On those occasions, there will be times when he really really really needs to go outdoors, right frickin’ now, for everybody’s sake.
Unfortunately his reaction to these times, if he happens to be indoors, is to stand at the door and look miserable. In complete silence. Until either I notice what he’s doing, or he just can’t wait another second. He’s not being bad. He’s just not being proactive enough. And trust me, you do not want to share a 200 square foot cabin with what emerges from LB’s nether regions on those occasions.
Well, Ghost is also aware of this. And so, maybe four times in the past year, I’ve been awakened in the wee small hours by – not Little Bear, but Ghost. The first couple of times, I assumed Ghost had just heard something outside that needed challenging. I told him to shut up and lay back down. I – and everybody else – paid cash for that mistake.
So last night, about quarter to four, I woke up from a very sound sleep to the sound of Ghost giving me his “I wanna go outside” whine. And I remembered what I saw yesterday, cleaning up LB’s offerings in the yard, and I hustled to assure them both I was on my way as I pulled on my leg and headed for the ladder. And sure enough that was the problem, and it was Ghost who saved us from a terribly malodorous night. So, I’m just saying: Good boy, Ghost.
