Good news! The drunken loser and one of his friends managed to fix whatever went wrong with the POS pickup’s steering and drag it out of the hole he’d dug for it, and it’s gone from my life before the wash runs again and cements it to the landscape forever.
Which is almost worth – bad news! – the SOB actually being such an ingrate as to steal my tow strap. I’m not surprised, which is surprising in itself because I usually expect random acquaintances to behave decently and they so seldom do.
MM: I looked at those Yankum ropes you linked, and I’m sure they’re very fine but $155.00 is too much money for 20′ of rope no matter how high quality the rope. I can get another 30′ strap for twenty bucks on Amazon. Thanks, though.
Don’t dwell on his failure to return your strap. Don’t ;let it bother you or weigh on your mind.
Go bang on his door and ask politely to get yer strap back.
If he refuses, burn down his dwelling.
Simple. Don’t overcomplicate things.
😀 I actively try to avoid that particular sort of confrontation.
Karma will provide an opportunity to wave gaily as I drive past his truck, stuck in a flooded ditch.
On the bright side, if he realizes it’s yours he might bring it back.
Or he’ll avoid you, Your good deed will eventually pay off for you.

If you loan someone $20 and then never see them again, it was probably worth it.
Might be best to just consider the strap an “investment in solitude” and let it go.
Let me check the warehouse before you spend $
Will let you know if a freeby can be had
Maybe he was so drunk he doesn’t remember how he came to have the strap in his possession? Wet head?
Joel, my first surprise is that this dough head actually has a friend that would come out and help him. However, his keeping the tow strap isn’t a surprise at all, considering that his alcohol soaked brain probably doesn’t have any memory of where the tow strap came from or you, for that matter, stored in it.
Have you verified they did not leave the tow strap at the location of their adventure?
Of course. Not there, not here, not anywhere in between.
I don’t loan out items like jumper cables, tow straps. Those are meant to stay in the vehicle.
I seriously doubt anyone here thought it would be returned in a timely manner.
