Huh. I never saw that coming.

I knew Donald Trump was an insufferable lump of buffoonery with a mouth on one end and (undoubtedly) an anus on the other. I figured he was preferable to Hillary in the same way being stuck with a boor is preferable to being stung by a scorpion.

But I never thought he would find ways to make Barack Obama look good in hindsight. I believed that would require talent beyond even Trump’s impressive ability to disappoint. It appears I was wrong.

Sessions said that the Justice Department was reviewing Obama-era policies that set limits on its ability to subpoena journalists.

“We respect the important role that the press plays, and will give them respect, but it is not unlimited,” said Sessions. “They cannot place lives at risk with impunity. We must balance the press’s role with protecting our national security, and the lives of those that serve in the intelligence community, the armed forces, and all law-abiding Americans.”

The article goes on to emphasize that Obama did it too, of course. But this turbulent Attorney General is finding ways to demonstrate that I have hot buttons other than gun control, and he’s gleefully pushing them one by one.

How could you have not seen this coming Joel? I don’t know how to search just your blog, but I recall a pre-election post of yours where you say that your biggest concern with Trump was that he was basically an authoritarian. Controlling/dominating the flow if information to us commoners is among the FIRST moves that you should expect from an authoritarian who is in the process of consolidating his power over you.

Well, yeah. I did say that. It was an easy call then and now, but authoritarianism in the Trump admin isn’t what surprises me. I’m surprised by how quickly Trump managed to make Obama look good not so bad. I really hated Obama, about pretty much everything.

They are going after people who are leaking classified information where those leaks result in the death of US agents.

They are going after people who are leaking information that jeopardizes prosecution of murderers and other felons.

They are going after people who have created false stories which are then parroted across the Media – good ol’ Dan Rather’s “Fake but accurate”. Just what part of that do you have a problem with?

Now on the other hand, the civil asset forfeiture is indeed wrong. But most of the REST of President Trump’s actions are a breath of fresh air after 28 years of lurching towards One World Government.
