Just that kind of day. It’s supposed to be raining or snowing, and instead it dawned cloudless. But Saturday’s wind came back and it brought friends. Naturally, the first order of business was trying to shovel up horse shit on a bald ridge. I could barely keep on my feet.
It’s practical headgear for more than just hiding your secret jihadi identity on Facebook, y’know. Like, it’s good for keeping your right eardrum from blowing out through your left ear. Or getting your face scoured off by high-velocity dirt. But given that it’s really not very cold at all, once I’m out of the wind this getup becomes far too warm right away.
I need to go to town to see if I can score a plumbing part for the new well pump, but missed my regular Monday morning ride because I didn’t have a penny left in my pocket. But now I’ve been paid for last week’s shit-shoveling, and have to go meet another neighbor who’s going and said I could tag along. According to the weather report we’re supposed to be in the middle of a horrific winter storm, and although it’s not currently present I do believe all this wind is planning to blow in some new storm clouds. So there’s no telling what the near-term weather is going to be. But even if I can’t install the well pump, I can at least get everything ready to.
Beheading horses that don’t belong to you would likely result in the loss of your shit shoveling job. I leave it to you to decide if that would be a good thing or a bad thing. 😉
What Ben said… but remember that you don’t currently have any way to shower, so it would be a nasty mess anyhow.
Good luck in town… and getting home. We’re all battened down for a big storm tonight and tomorrow.
