I’d like to close the beach for my personal use today…

…that being a time-honored tradition among us autocratic hegemons.

‘Cause I’m really sore, and anyway you guys are in the middle of your four-day and mostly aren’t even reading this.

Alas I have to drag myself to town this morning for water, gasoline and (hopefully) potable alcohol. Maybe this afternoon I’ll collapse in a heap, but I doubt it’ll be here. You guys enjoy your day, and try not to be upset by emerging new evidence that Donald Trump is Destroying the World. 🙂

As a person who is also 63, or will be in a few weeks, you have my sympathies.

As for tRump destroying the world, bah. There are times when, as smart as he is, Stephen Hawking shouldn’t stray from his field of expertise, physics. What Mr. Hawking fails to grasp is that this isn’t the first time America has gone it’s own way and it will not be the last. The world will go on and eventually American politicians will come to the conclusion that they should be part of the whole as opposed to being outcasts and America will rejoin humanity.

We’re right here still reading this. Some of us are even lame and sore. Some of us plan to collapse in a heap later today. But some of us are alas!!! out of alcohol. Not good.

Hey, all your stuff are belong to us. We can use it so much more wisely, for the greater good of the greater number and all that. We’re just so darned smart and special like that. Which is why we’re in charge.

Bah, humbug! Some of us are going to work on the 4th for even less pay than normal (half shift) AND going to work on a non-work weekend. Bah, again!

Joel: If you were in charge of the world, it would probably be in better shape than now. Although I think you would work us too hard. 🙂

I think with great confidence, that one can ignore 100% of the global warming mania, from either side of the spectrum, be also confident that the human race will continue to survive and even prosper regardless. The danger lies in allowing callow vote seeking legislators the opportunity to implement laws and regulations that damage your income, quality of life and pursuit of happiness.
I for one would not miss anything of substance were the entire federal bureaucracy to shut down for extended periods. Privatize SS and get out of the medical care distortion racket, we will all be better off for it. Each state and community can manage it’s own affairs far more efficiently (but then there is Illinois and California to prove an exception to a rule).
Enjoy Independence Day, we are, in spite of all the baggage, still a fairly free nation.
When the day comes that states begin attempting to halt the movement of their residents to other states, then we will know we are screwed (keep an eye on CT, MA and CA for this).

  6. just read that police kicked people out of their beach homes so christie could hog the whole place.
hope every voter in new jersey pays close attention.

Beach homes or beach vacation houses? One would be highly irritating, the other could lead to a spot on the six o’clock news with the SWAT van in view behind the breathlessly-reporting reporter.
