I’m not having a bad day. I’m just having a day.

Clouds have rolled in and thunder is booming, so it’ll likely cool off some now. I got the boys out of Gitmo and am preparing to settle down til evening. If it isn’t raining, I’ll put the finishing touches on the powerhouse door, which I hung this morning as my last major act. Damned thing is finally (almost) finished. Now I’ve got to figure out what I’m gonna do about shelving.

Woke up with a dreadful backache, and I don’t know what I did to deserve it. Not like I’ve been working too hard, so I must have just slept on it weird. But I got a good deal done today. Built and hung the door, like I said. Got off to shit-shoveling, helped H with Felice’s leg (yet another swollen tendon – I have to assume this terrain is just hard on horses’ legs because it happens over and over), cut up some scrap lumber for firewood, prepped just under 300 .45 cases for powder and bullets. That’s all the empty cases I have, and I really thought there was more but they do wander off if you don’t pay attention.

Doesn’t really matter: I only have 100 bullets to my name and no extra money on the horizon. But at the moment I don’t think I own 100 rounds of loaded .45, so that’s better than twice as good. I’ve got fairly good stocks of the two rifle calibers I use, but I always seem to be running out of pistol ammo.

The rainy afternoons are starting to get me down a bit. We haven’t even had much rain here for the past week, but it always storms all around, every damn day, so you can’t plan on it staying dry. Minute you assume it won’t happen here, it will.

I’m glad I’ve got the new electrical equipment under cover at last, though. The new powerhouse isn’t anything you’d care to look at, and there’s a lot of expanding foam in its future if I really hope to keep rodents out. But it will do its basic job, I guess.

I’m rambling. Need to turn the ‘pooter off now, sit in my comfy chair, and hope my back feels better.
