It seems there’s a tactical disadvantage…

…to upgrading your solar electrical system at the height – or depth, whatever – of Monsoon. It’s been over a week and I still don’t know what my new PV panel is capable of. Still struggling along at 35% or worse at the batteries, which can’t be doing them any good. Though we haven’t had significant rain since the downpour of several days ago that caused all the washes and gullies to let go and got everybody’s tractors busy fixing roads for a while, it seems that every time the sun is headed for “overhead” and I can hope to get some fix on how much grunt the panel can really give me, the clouds roll in and I don’t see it again till just before dusk at best. It’s annoying.

Decided to give the ‘pooter a rest over the weekend, just to see if I could get some depth in these apparently excellent but still chronically undercharged batteries.

I will say this for the new inverter, though…YEAH, BABY. Even if my battery-charging capacity remains less than stellar, the inverter will run anything you can plug into an outlet. Me like.

There was a time here when I really needed to use a computer and it had been overcast for a week. Finally just hooked up some jumper cables from the car to the storage batteries and gave myself that needed charge. Took a little gas. Don’t know if that is practical for you though. I am only 5 miles or so from a gas station.
