BACKFIRE: Broward County Implements ‘Solution’ For School Violence And Students Are Not Happy
On Wednesday, the superintendent of the Democrat-heavy Broward County Public Schools announced a new policy aimed at reducing school violence — and the students are not happy.
Superintendent Robert W. Runcie, a proponent of radical left-wing gun control measures, announced that students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School will only be allowed to bring clear backpacks to school after spring break and will be required to wear a new ID badge at all times.
The kids seem unpleased for some odd reason. I thought they liked idiotic restrictions imposed in the name of safety?
Clear backpacks don’t do anything except make us look stupid. We want to be safe, not uncomfortable. The only thing that can really have an impact on our safety is gun control

The hell with transparent backpacks. I want to see high school girls forced to wear transparent bras and blouses so they can’t hide weapons.

If she’d had the capacity to follow through, it would’ve been “… let’s penalize 52 million legal guns owners instead!”
BTW, not sure any kids actually carry books anymore. Backpacks are to carry their cell phones, participation trophies, and school-provided birth control.
Well, Eric, if the report was about a Marjory Stoneman Douglas College coed, I’d have rolled with that.
Dennis Leary had a stand-up routine about airline safety wherein everyone is naked to prevent smuggling weapons on board. “Hello, customer service? Yes, please, I’d like to add the optional seat doily to my ticket.”
My junior high did something similar. We had to carry mesh bags with a draw string at the top. I asked the principal what would stop someone from just wrapping a gun up in their gym clothes so nobody could see it.
He was not amused. I also asked why couldn’t someone sit a gun on the rear window sill (very old school) and open the window in class to get it inside. That warranted a call to my father. He responded with “The boy is right. This is a stupid rule that won’t do anything to keep a gun out of the school”.
This was in West Virginia in the 90’s. The only thing that got shot by a gun brought to school was a deer before or after school. Every truck had a deer rifle in it and there was an empty school the first day of deer season every year. Nobody would have even thought to shoot another student. Beat him senseless maybe, but not shoot anybody.

I’m not sure if I’d feel safer with Archie’s solution of arming everyone (can I bring my own?) or with Dennis’ solution of flying naked. I can see issues arising in either case considering the effect of hormones…
