Kind of a “duh,” nothing us gunhuggers haven’t said since day one, but…

This is the biggest-circulation outlet I’ve seen publish somebody saying it. Does USA Today qualify as MSM?

Time to talk about gun free zones

In other mass shootings, the shooters’ motivations have varied, from racism to religion to anti-religion. There has not been a single common theme, except for one.

In almost all mass shooting situations, particularly at schools, the common theme is a gun-free zone, with the shooter being the only one armed person in the building for minutes or longer. And in each case, the shooter couldn’t care less about the gun-free nature of the building, and if anything, was drawn to such a location.

Gun-free zones presume the good intentions of those entering the zone. And the overwhelming majority have such good intentions. But for those who have bad intentions, gun-free zones turn schools and other locations into shooting galleries. The good people are unarmed, the evil person is armed.

Even a blind hog will find an acorn every now and then

  2. f1watch says:

Wow, We only had to say that for 10 or 20 years and somebody heard it! Maybe in another decade they might act upon that realization.

  3. Kentucky says:

Copy that article before it disappears forever . . .

    😉

  4. Given my own experience with USA Today, I’d call that a Pretty Big Deal, if not quite division-by-zero. Maybe an editor asleep at the wheel or something?

Or, who knows? Maybe someone realized that making yourself actually differentiable from all the other players might get people to, you know, actually read your paper. That would be just amoral enough an explanation to be possible. (It’s not that “the media” is biased, it’s simply spineless, and the petulant nanny-staters are better salesmen than the MYOFB crowd.)

Either way, the best part is going to be watching whatever recto-cranio-invertatus circus the Establishment manages to muster to smack down its wayward child.

Actually I believe another common theme in all of these shootings, not sure about the latest in Oregon yet, is that the shooters are all taking some form of pharmaceutic anti anxiety drug.

  6. Paul Bonneau says:

You guys are missing the obvious: gun control is dead. Even the Ministry of Propaganda can’t help but admit it.

  7. Joel says:

Maybe, but its enablers are giving Australia-style confiscation a try at the moment. I’m watching that with interest.
