“No means no” – heh, what a quaint notion.

On the Alan Gottlieb thing…

I avoid words like “traitor” when I don’t know the issues, and I don’t know the issues here. So I didn’t use the word traitor. You heard me not use that word. Traitor, I mean. That word I didn’t use.

Claire did use it, because she’s stuck in a sad old absolutist paradigm and doesn’t value diversity like I do. But I didn’t. Because I’m all tolerant and stuff. Claire, in her simple-minded and unreasonable manner, doesn’t understand how it’s possible to be just a little bit raped. How unpatriotic.

Kevin Wilmeth, poor fellow, is simply confused…

On one hand, I suppose I can’t be surprised. Play long enough in the political realm, and maybe it’s just inevitable that you start believing that politics can be a solution to politics. But I did want to believe better. To believe that someone in Gottlieb’s position would not go and Ruger us all over again.

What nonsense, poor fellow. Dear, brave Mr. Gottlieb is merely exercising the art of compromise, which is the essence of politics and – like politics – is as American as apple pie. You can’t expect anyone to consider you reasonable if you don’t compromise, after all. And in America’s – that is to say, the best – view of compromise, you give up something precious to you and the government promises not to hurt you. Very badly. This time. Later your masters will be back to compromise with you again. And if for some unreasonable reason you don’t like that, you can always vote. November after next. And that, dear citizens, will fix everything.

Hey, look! Justin Beiber! Now take your Soma and go to work.

You know – with “no choice but to obey to make this thing work” – hopefully Mr. Gottlieb will recall the Rhodes incident where all rights were ultimately taken away by death –

People died because they compromised with themselves and Obeyed. People like Mr. Gottleib. Then again – that’s just old History.

I tore up all my “RKBA” organization cards this morning. I’m going to take a long walk now, and maybe play in the garden a bit before it snows again tomorrow. I really need to cool off…

It will take me a few days to be able to write a response to this that wouldn’t blow out all the bad word sensors on the internet. And I never swear, actually.

Maybe it will take a year… we’ll have to see.

  3. Leave it to Joel to turn my own words into yet another “wish I’d said that” moment. 🙂

I got a chuckle from your “Soma” comment. Very appropriate…
