It’s called a Bug-A-Salt 2.0, and it’s a no-fooling fly-killing shotgun that’s safe for windows. The first generation didn’t sound very practical but according to Weer’d’s review of this new iteration…
WOW! All the claims seemed correct. Definitely appeared to have a LOT more range. Choke was indeed tighter, which meant misses would happen if you got lazy with your sight picture. Still the shots that connects ANCHORED the bugs I fired at.
One shot, and DROP! It’s still early in the season, I’ll see if I can get some more detailed terminal ballistics once the flies become thick.
Yeah, I know. I have a perfectly good flyswatter. But in Summer it is necessary to exercise careful door discipline or the Lair will fill with flies, and chasing them around with a swatter without breaking your neck tripping over big dumb black dogs that do not even after all these years understand what the swearing is about gets old in short order. This thing looks like it might actually turn the chore into good clean fun. I may have to scrape up the bux. Wonder if it’s on Amazon?

I use an adjustable spray bottle with rubbing alcohol diluted to approximately 50%. Great moving target practice, and most of it is “point and shoot.” The spray bottle costs $2. at the dollar store, and the alcohol is pretty cheap too. A direct hit drops them instantly, and they usually die even if it’s not a dead on shot. The only things the alcohol won’t kill are spiders and ants. The ants don’t like ammonia, of course, and I use pump type hair spray on unwanted spiders, so I’ve got it pretty well covered.
But if you have a lot of flies outdoors, you might consider a big stinky fly trap. http://www.amazon.com/Victor-M380-Magnet-1-Quart-Reusable/dp/B00004RBDW/ref=sr_1_1?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1430923662&sr=1-1&keywords=big+stinky+
And, actually, now that the horses are gone, you may find you don’t have nearly as many flies this year.
That’s a pretty good idea, with the spray alcohol. I hate big stinky fly traps, though, more than I hate flies.
Hey Joel, We actually have the original asalt rifle. It’s pretty fun to use & it really does work.
“Wonder if it’s on Amazon?”
Of course it’s available at Amazon. Everything is:

You can even get an inflatable girly doll costume at Amazon:

Which must prove that they truly have everything!
Um…Ben…
I do believe the fact that you know that second thing qualifies as too much information to share. 🙂
