What an incredible string of beautiful days we’ve had! For over a week the temps have been mid-to-high sixties with cloudless or mostly-sunny skies and hardly any wind. The nice weather was supposed to start ending tomorrow, this is after all still February, but now they’ve revised the forecast to more of the same. So thank you, Al Gore, for finally coming through for a buddy. I owe you a solid. Neighbor L was saying this morning that so far this winter is tracking a fat 20 degrees above normal day and night and I see no reason to doubt her.
So the mud dried and we finally got that big ATV trailered up and brought to town. D&L just bought themselves a brand-new pickup, and I said something I probably shouldn’t have…
“A sparkling clean new pickup and a trailered quadrunner: We look like tourists.”
And D said, “I was just thinking the same thing. I hate that.”
Speaking of D&L, I got a picture of that adobe damage they had from the pinhole leak in a galvanized fitting that shouldn’t have been there…
All the way down to the earthbags, but it could be worse. A leak like that on an exterior wall would have been disastrous, what with all the straw bales.
Also, alas I might have been wrong about a new pressure regulator fixing the Lair’s oven. Because I just installed one and the oven still isn’t working right. I’m going to try one more thing before giving up and hanging myself.
Finally, I’m rushing through lunch at the moment because I have to go back to D&L’s and help unload their big pellet stove, back from the shop and hopefully no longer misbehaving. So, busy beautiful day! Me like.

About the oven….. Two possibilities, based on a minor problem I’ve had with a propane heater. I really assume these ideas aren’t news to you, but would hate to not mention them just in case maybe you haven’t already tried the simplest solutions. School of hard knocks is a bitch when someone else already has the degree. 😉
Is there a very small air intake hole somewhere below the pilot light and just above where the propane flows in. Our heater has one that clogs with dust after a while and needs to be cleared out with a wire stuck into it and twirled around a bit.
Is your regulator vertical or horizontal? It took me a few rounds with the heater to realize that the regulator has an arrow on it that should be pointing up/vertical. Guess I’m just wishing for you that it’s something really simple.
