Oh. That was hard.

I have spent three hours crawling around under the cabin. I have a headache. I want beer and a sit-down in the shade.

But I have completed the underfloor pipe insulation – now that it’s no longer winter. That was the eighth winter spent in the cabin, and I hope to spend the ninth winter without fear of frozen pipes.

Yeah. We’ll see how well that works. But in the meantime, I’m getting old and that was too much time in a far-too-cramped crawlspace. (Note to future off-gridders: Make sure you can get to your pipes.) Keeping home-made infrastructure going tends to be a slow learning experience.

    Amateur construction tends to be an iterative process. As you discover your errors and learn better ways to do things, you go back to re-do the job. Sometimes more than once!
