Been trying to install the Tip Jar button, and so far I can’t get the link to work. Have to go to work and don’t have time to futz with it anymore. But it only takes you to the new Contact page anyway, so for now just click on the Contact page if you’re so inclined.
I hope I’ve successfully put a kibosh on the “Buy Joel a Leg” fund drive which, though I appreciate it greatly, isn’t the most workable idea I’ve ever heard. But anybody who just wants to contribute to the blog is certainly welcome to.
And thanks – very much – to those who have offered.

Dunno about that kibosh business.
So what would be the bottom line(or close as one can get by guesstimation) to get a new leg?
Difficult to say without going to a prosthetist and getting an estimate – and even back fifteen-odd years ago when this one was built, it was hard to get them to commit to dollar figures because they’re so used to screwing over government “charities” and insurance companies that they hardly ever deal in cash. I’ve seen estimates running anywhere from $10,000 to $20,000, but mine would likely be on the lower end of the scale because my leg’s cut off below the knee.
At least you got your blogroll workin’ – that took me nearly a week. When Breda mentioned the cost of her (leg) I flipped. Goddam government bureaucrats with a heavy thumb on the scale, there’s no free market anywhere in health care. Can you get a leg made of Kydex?
Ummmmm…..shit. I was thinking half that. And at half I thought maybe if enough of us got together in a sufficient number of places we could get something done. I’d still be into that if anyone thinks it would work. Maybe an auction? I dunno…….
