Got the AK scope dialed in, and oh what a relief it is. The carbine isn’t any sort of tack driver, but now able to see both the target and the sight I was shooting within minute of steel plate at 100 yards, anyway. After a couple of 30-rounders I was getting cocky and trying to see how many plates I could keep swinging on their chains at once.
It occurred to me that what this world needs is tuned steel plates, like a xylophone for the rifle.

I always think that when I shoot steel. One of the silencer companies did it for a Christmas video.
I have often thought that when I’m shooting steel with a suppressor. At Knob Creek, there is a steel plate subgun competition. Many of the competitors shoot suppressed, and it is really quite musical.
Hmmm now musical plates would definitely get me interested in shooting metal silhouettes! I wonder if thinning the metal in certain areas would work… Hmmm.
Associating that thought with your ongoing rat wars:

I was looking to buy a house, & that’s one of the things I’d planned to do–set up different sizes/thicknesses of steel plate & see if I could play the theme from “Close Encounters” (to begin with). Won’t happen soon. I’ve decided to buy the house my mother is selling–the one my dad died in last year. Not ideal (not enough room out back for a range), but it’s got 2 garages & 2 sheds, so plenty of space for wrenching on all these disreputable old bikes. Room for a real gunsmithing bench, too, not to mention a drill press, bench grinder (2 already there), & other goodies. I’ll build some equity, & all the while be looking for a more ideal place.
And all the while, I’ll be thinking about the musical-plates idea.
Bent–ahem–great minds think alike, it would seem.
