I sent the ebook off to the editors this morning. Early review, not in so many words: “Are you crazy?” It may still need a little work.

My neighbor D has been after me to go with him to the wonderful, magical town about 35 miles away to buy a new woodstove and pipe. I’ve been holding off because I needed $350 and I didn’t have it.

This morning I got an email from the person who takes care of my mail drop: The money’s deposited and confirmed available. That’s $264.

So: $264 in the bank plus $62 in hand, makes $326. I had a little more than that in my wallet earlier, but had to buy gasoline. So now I needed $24 to put me officially over the top.

I dragged out the box where I throw my spare change. Spent an hour or so rolling up pennies, nickels, and dimes. The end of that?

Which gives me a stove budget, out of a projected $350, of exactly $350. Which puts me over the top.

I’m trying to schedule the trip now.

    Good luck with it!

Isn’t it amazing how that happens? :) I’m so glad you’ll have a good stove this winter.

Woo. Definitely amazing synchonicity that you needed exactly $24 and got it from change. Now I’ll be sending my best woo wishes that the stove and pipe don’t cost a dime more than $350, or that if they do you swallow your damn pride and accept a loan from D.

And that you also find enough money to eat after buying the stove.

As to those editors’ comments … I don’t recall “Are you crazy?” I remember something more like, “Damn, this is going to be good, once it’s a little more organizified.”

:^) Yeah, but you said it three times – with steadily-mounting passion.

As for synchronicity – Yeah, I got a big kick when it came out right to the very dollar. That $350 should contain enough cushion for taxes and unexpected extras – with the possible exception of a fire grate.

that is awesome that you came to the right amount of dough 😀
As for the stove being bought by some bastard… I agree, a better one will be there when you go back :) How’s the brat, aka Zoe doing?

To the stake with the heretic!
