I’m a bad dad. Little Bear was bugging me to do something besides sit around the Lair, so we went for a Jeep ride to take care of Landlady’s chickens. Then I stopped at the reloading shack to work over my empty brass and use up the last of my .44 bullets. And in the reloading shack there’s a very nice bed where LB can…sit around. He didn’t really seem to mind.
I was waiting for S&L to bring Ghost back, because we always meet on top of the ridge right near the reloading shack. But they delayed, so we went back to the Lair just in time to get the call. So back up the ridge we trekked. Ghost jumped out of their car and didn’t even pause to say goodbye; he was ready to go home, and disappeared while we were chatting. When LB and I got home he was there, waiting to be let inside. He came in, got his treat, and now he’s back outside making sure nobody’s screwed around with his territory while he was gone. A dog of priorities, is Ghost. No time to dawdle.
But getting to the purpose of the title. Is there anybody out there that’s sitting on some .44 Special fired brass you’d like to sell or trade? Because damn.

Wish I had some to send you, my friend. 🙂 I’ve got some leftover .45 once fired, but no .44.
It’s easier to find .44 mag brass, then trim off the excess length.
That’s what I did, anyway.
I have some couple times fired 44 Spl that’s in pretty good shape (about 50 rds.) that I could donate. Let me know how to get it to you.
Doubletree: And I may have to do that. There is a case trimmer here, and as you say magnum is easier to get. (In hindsight I don’t know why I was surprised that .44 mag killed .44 spl.) But only if I can’t find the right brass. When I first got the pistol a nearby gun shop had 100 empty cases for sale, and so I was optimistic. That was years ago and the last I ever saw.
Graystone: The email addy I use for this purpose is johndwitt2003(at)yahoo(dot)com. Drop me a line and I’ll tell you where my mail drop is. Thanks!
IIRC, your revolver is a 44 mag; is there a reason why a 44 Special-type load could not be worked up using a bulky powder in 44 mag cases?
No, it’s a .44 special. Hence the issue; when I got it I was unaware .44 spl was becoming extinct.
‘Tis not obsolete, but has definitely been relegated to the status of connoisseur appreciation. New brass is available, but is admittedly pricey.
Wish I had extras to spare, but I’m kinda in the same shape you are. I have like 100 or so cases and that’s about it. I limit their use to the occasional plinking session in a, ahem, Taurus 431.
