News flash: Dogs manipulate us with body language!

Because apparently scientists didn’t know this.
They increased the frequency of certain expressions as a way of communicating.
This included puppy dog eyes, unromantically described as movement AU101, which was used more when being watched by a person.
This was because dogs know it can bring them what they want, study lead Professor Juliana Kaminski and her colleagues concluded.
As does everybody who ever owns a dog, for crying out loud. Movement AU101 wasn’t a big secret before scientists discovered it. Dogs communicate with body language: who knew?
Some do it better than others…

in1988 I read an article in Smithsonian Magazine while waiting at the bus station in Winslow AZ. The article was about a study funded by the government (of course) about why dogs bark. Not the danger, stranger barks, but why some dogs will just sit and bark or bark randomly. After a two year, quarter million dollar study, the conclusion was, “for the hell of it.”
😀
Matt, did you happen to see a girl drivin’ a flatbed Ford?
😉
Next I predict that we’ll read about some major study to establish why water is wet…
I sometimes feel a little sorry for poor old Winslow. Famous for one thing, and it’s really not much of a thing…
It is not much of a thing, but Winslow is not much of a place. If not for that one song, they would be forgotten.
This does not surprise me. Remember when all the eggheads found out that men’s brains are different than women’s? Or that there actually are commissioned studies on ketchup flow rates?
