I appear to have fixed my oven. I scrounged a brand-new barbecue regulator, went through the ritual scramble for hose adaptors until I could get the thing connected to the stove, and at the moment the oven works perfectly.
I add the above weasel words because at first the oven did not work perfectly but at the moment (there it is again) it is in fact doing so.
I think I need to take this grace period and find a better solution to my nagging propane issues.

Seriously, once you have your issues ironed out this stuff can be expected to run for decades.
Have you adjusted the regulated pressure yet? Usually it’s pretty easy. You could easily fabricate a field expedient manometer but I just play with pressure and watch the flame.
