Sigh…

I get human-type passengers so seldom – and would so hesitate to invite somebody civilized to put his/her ass on that seat anyway – that I’m thinking seriously of just pulling it out and laying down some old carpet. Except then Tobie couldn’t see out the windshield.

Kind of his own fault anyway. Well, that and a couple of other generations of dogs…

Pull the seat out, replace with a box that you bolt in, cover with carpet. Makes for more storage and for something dog-child can destroy without you feeling bad about it.

I have done much the same thing in my last two vehicles. Take out the rear benches (vans, both of them) and put in a platform for the doggo with lots of storage underneath.

  2. Mark Matis says:

I’m too cheap to get you a passenger side seat.

  3. Terrapod says:

Maybe some seat covers from JC Whitney (the cheapest bastards in Chicago) would do the trick.
Let me do some checking. 😉

  4. Terrapod says:

Wow, JC Whitney has been subsumed by a millennial type company, they don’t have a fraction of what they used to carry and it is all expensive bling. More homework needed.

  5. Ben says:

Would it be possible to remove the cushions and cover them with something cheap and tough like carpet runner?

At Tobie’s present stage of development, a new cushion might be a bad idea.

  6. Mike says:

It’s a good thing Tobie didn’t do this while riding around in D’s red Jeep. Then, there would be some serious grovelling to be done.

You seem to have trouble disciplining your children. It is hard to do, but sometimes needful.

    Hee hee.

  8. Steve Walton says:

Well, I agree with throwing away the seats and building a box for Tobie, there is this:

Friend had a really great weiner dog for almost 20 years. When dog was a pup he chewed big time and one night destroyed girlfriend’s new fancy high-heeled shoe. Friend tied the shoe to his collar for 2 days and spoke rudely to dog every time he saw him. Shoe screwed up dog trying to walk, eat, sleep, etc. Dog never chewed up anything again (without permission).
