So we’re getting some details on DiFi’s wet dream…

If women have wet dreams, which I don’t know. If DiFi is classifiable as a woman, which … I’d rather not speculate about that. Away, mental image!

Yeesh!

Anyway, back to Gun Control. Quickly. We’re getting some details on Feinstein’s proposed new Intolerable Act, as you probably already know. Given the source, I assume this information is accurate – or at least as accurate as anything from a politician can be, which is to say it’s probably a complete pack of lies.

According to this, guns become evil with one scary feature instead of two. The ban is still on “sale, transfer, importation, or manufacturing” rather than ownership, but that “concession” has the sting in its tail that “grandfathered” weapons are moved to the NFA registry which in many cases (like mine) may as well outlaw them. I have no intention of permitting my weapons to be registered, and I suspect the same holds true of the many, many people now belatedly rushing out to buy evil “assault weapons.”

Gunbloggers all across flyover country have correctly pointed out that nothing is more likely to sink the famously dysfunctional NFA registry faster than adding millions of guns to it, when F-Troop already can’t keep track of a few thousand machine guns.

I don’t find that important. In fact, I don’t find DiFi’s favorite nightmare important, for two reasons:

*The bill won’t pass.

*If the bill passes and becomes law, it won’t be enforced.

Of course, I have a strong track record for being completely wrong about such things. But if the bill passes, becomes law and is enforced, it will still be ignored by millions. And that could make life very interesting for those poor souls tasked with confiscation of unregistered weapons…

For the record, this is my evil “assault weapon.”
akI don’t just own it, I carry it and sometimes I use it. I don’t plan to stop that just because it frightens some broad from San Francisco. She’s welcome to stay away, so as not to be offended.

But I hope she has a nice day anyhow.

I hope you are right in it not passing. Oddly enough the phrase Molon Labe has become part of my everyday vocabulary…

  2. Bear says:

I think what it (no way is that entitled to the feminine pronoun, and it doesn’t look too masculine either) has on its web site is extremely unlikely to pass the Senate, much less the House. But you can count on the Dem and Rep squads of the BOYN team to “compromise” on some pretty disgusting elements of it all. The Dems will do it because it’s just one more incremental step, and the Reps will do it to be “tough on crime” e/v/e/n/ _especially_ when that means being tough on the folks who didn’t do it.

  3. Keith says:

There’s also the import restriction aspects.

    Hopefully US manufacturers are getting the message that gunnies are a very, very unforgiving bunch, but;

Bill Ruger went slithering on his belly to get big mags banned, in the hope people would buy his mini 30, instead of an AK

The British former owners of S&W went slithering along in favour of key locks (in the hope of being the only gun on the market)

and all the big US manufacturers were behind the import ban parts of the ’68 act.

Import bans and tariffs have appealed to the (stupid members of the) American population since the time of Hamilton, if not before.

Those stupid critters are going to need some serious downsides pointed out to them if they’re to be stopped from going allong with such bans again.

  4. MamaLiberty says:

Feinstein and her ilk are actually pod people.

Remind me what it was we’re supposed to do to get rid of them… it’s been something like 40 years since I saw the movie.

Right, CU – they can “come up and get them,” but it’s not going to be easy.

  5. Bear says:

And just so everyone understands who (will do) did what, once the debate gets rolling in DC, expect the lamestream muddia to “discover” a new batch of “drug-related” crimes involving firearms that Saint Di’s bill would ban, all the better to get the remaining Repugnicans aboard. At that point the NRA will buy a really big tour bus from Obama’s Canadian supplier so they can throw their members under it and put their bloody-inked imprimatur on the deal (which covers the asses of all those A/B rated/endorsed pols that that have been coming out in favor of new restrictions.

    Hi Bear,
The inconsistency of the conservative position, whether its defined in terms of

    self ownership vs statist coercion

    or

gun rights vs right to have substances or same sex genitals into your own body

    is pretty astounding.

How someone cannot see the parallels between alcohol/drug/gun prohibitions is to take incuriousness to a whole new level.

Plus the silly conservative buggers are daggers drawn with the very guys (and girls and especially inbetweenies) who are best placed to defeat any ban – the blackmarketeers.

    They’re an odd bunch

  7. Bear says:

Keith, that dichotomy (especially when phrased as “gun rights vs right to have substances or same sex genitals into your own body”) isn’t exactly specific to the soi disant “conservatives”. [grin]

“Liberals” and “conservatives alike really just want _control_. The difference is only which set of control issues they prefer as their first steps.

To the stake with the heretic!
