The first cut is the deepest

Morning turned busier than intended; just as I got back from morning walkie and was about to start with bread baking, the phone rang. Neighbor D wanted to go to the dump, and move the Saturday trip to town to this morning.

As it happened that worked out well for me, because I have some stuff that could go to the dump and also need a bunch of chicken stuff, and both those things require the Jeep trailer. So that’s one trip with the trailer instead of two.

It did mean, though, that it was time for a certain new chore coat to lose its notional virginity…

Yeah, it’s just straw and dust. Beats right out. But it’s the first straw and dust, and the first one is the hardest.

Lol u silly J! What if i mentioned something about how everything is made in china these days? Or. I wonder what U.S. based textile company supplies carhartt I personally went through 3 pair of carhartt steal toes in just over 5 years.. Research of most anything leads back to china in one way or another but alas….. THE FIRST CUT IS THE FUCKING DEEPEST FIGURATIVLY AND LITERALLY is being born in 85 make me a mellenial? Watch next time you go to use the jacket u will notice a scuff or tear… Atleast anytime I ever purchase something new it happens to get aesthetically marred almost immeadietly! I suck at spelling. Literally.

OMG! I was afraid you were going to say that you lost, tore or ruined it at the dump.

  3. Joel says:

Oh, no. God, no, my heirs and assigns would be informing you of my bloody seppuku.

Just did a quick check on Carhartt’s “Made in the USA” products.

None of the classic heavy-duty coveralls, bibs, or chore coats.

A few “jackets”, jeans, hats, socks, etc.

    And expensive.

    Sad.

That might change, Kentucky, after 20 January…

Doubtful. The situation that now exists is that manufacturers have totally subscribed to the concept that foreign-sourced goods cost them less than domestically-produced goods and can allow much greater profit margins. Higher profit margins look good on financial reports and stock prices respond accordingly. Stockholders like increased returns and keep the executives that “produce” them in place with ridiculous salaries. And we all keep buying the stuff so the cycle continues. We has got what we has asked for, in a manner of speaking. There is no quick fix . . . indeed, likely no fix at all. Gonna get more interesting. JMHO

  7. Joel says:

    This one’s made in Mexico.

  8. Ben says:

“This one’s made in Mexico.” Well at least it’s American made then. (Continentally speaking, that is.)

  9. kyle says:

Well i think the u.s. should turn mexico into its own personal china… Pay the corrupt government to allow mass production with no limits on pollution labor abuse or unfair practices… WE could start selling shit like china without fucking up our own country while stopping beaners from migrating into usa for jobs…. Catch my drift no this is not end all sustanable solution for our planet as a wholeits just my joke of what we should do 2 spite china for fucking up the entire globe with their frivolous lasts 2 days and contains lead nick nacks…
