Get a load of this…
Today marks the most deadly shooting in American history. The shooter was apparently armed with a handgun and a powerful assault rifle. This massacre is therefore a further reminder of how easy it is for someone to get their hands on a weapon that lets them shoot people in a school, or in a house of worship, or a movie theater, or in a nightclub. And we have to decide if that’s the kind of country we want to be. And to actively do nothing is a decision as well.
The words “muslim” and “jihad” make no appearance. Maybe he thinks those pesky homophobic Baptists are on the warpath again. Damned bitter clingers.
You know, this – this sort of event, that is, not the speech – is starting to affect my equilibrium. I am philosophically anti-collectivist to as much of a fault as I can arrange, and I consider racism the most contemptible form of collectivism. But I’m beginning to experience flashes of a sentiment not entirely unlike “Kill’em all & let God sort’em out.” I’m not saying that as if I think it’s a good thing, mind you, but there it is.

And I’m a hermit, only seeing the news through a laptop screen. I can only imagine how it’s affecting regular people, who actually have to live in the world.

It’s interesting to watch the various politicians, TV meat puppets, LGBT groups and organizations handle this kind of thing. The p.c. line is never, ever offend Muslims, nor even risk the appearance of slightly offending one Muslim — not ever.
Fortunately, Islam is not a race, any more than Communism or Fascism, so worrying about racism is unwarranted:-).
Should I go back and change the word to bigotry? 🙂
I’d go with “justified suspicion” myself, but whatever floats your boat.j
