This morning I saw two people. That’s on the high side for an average day.

So if I ever get nostalgic for everything that comes with a regular paycheck, I’ll just think of this…

I remember the first time I flew into Los Angeles, four years after coming to Wyoming. Looking out the window of the airplane, I simply could not believe how there could be so many houses all mashed in together that way. When we landed, I realized that there were probably more people in the airport itself (Thanksgiving weekend) than there are in all of Wyoming. I felt crushed and smothered by the sheer volume of people, vehicles, noise and confusion all around me. More than anything, I just wanted to go home…

It was a sobering experience… and remember, I lived most of my life in California and was not unaware of what I would find there… just was not prepared for my reaction to it. In any case, I won’t be going back.
