And holding. Verizon tried to tempt me into mortal sin yesterday, when the gauge went to zero and stayed there for a while, then suddenly swooped back to 3.97. But I was a gooboy.
Kind of miss the Internet. Things pop into my mind, pointless things, mostly, and I think, “I should look that up.” But I don’t. You know the sort of thing: Is that bush a tamarisk? Two M’s or three in comittment? Whatever happened to Petula Clark? Do movie critics think Point Break sucked as badly as I think it did? Nothing world-shaking or even slightly important. But still, the stuff my brain is made of.
Now it’s October 1, and I really hoped the tiny gauge on the tiny screen would read zero when I groped down the loft ladder this morning. So I could play on the Internet. But so far no joy.
You want to know something awful? I had this planned for the official “Joel’s Back” post, but I don’t know when that’s going to happen now. So I’ll go ahead and tell you. Five years now, I’ve lived in the Lair and the Lair has had an OSB floor. One positive thing about an OSB floor? Up to a certain point you really don’t care how clean it is. It just doesn’t matter. Sweep it up as best you can, and call it good. Then I spent several days working, putting in backer board and Genuine High Class Ceramic Tile. During Monsoon, when there’s mud. And for the past week, I’ve been pining for a doormat to wipe my feet on. Never cared before. Getting hoity-toity in my old age, I am…

Do you have a box of old rags? Sew them together and braid them into a rug. (I can send you very simple instructions.) Voila! A doormat you won’t mind wiping muddy feet on. That’s certainly not too high class. LOL
Joel, Verizon goes by the date activated as the reset day, so if it wasnt activated on the 1st, it doesnt reset on the first. My reset date is the 18th of every month. Something to think about/look at…
Wait – you mean the 2015 remake of Point Break, right? Seems like everyone (Ebert, Rotten Tomatoes, IMDb) agreed that one stunk. I didn’t see it, but enjoyed the original.
Cheers
harrysteele — I just went back in time and it appears Joel’s Verizon service went live on September 1. Here’s hoping he goes back to zero either later today or no later than tomorrow.
Must have our daily dose of TUAK!!!
I have taken advantage of this brief interlude to go back to the beginning of the archives and re-live the adventure. I’m presently up to August of 2013. Good times!

coloradohermit — I think that’s the one for Joel!
I even went to Amazon to see if I could order one, but all the ones with that saying look like cheap rubber, not something that will last. While looking for a better quality one, though, I found more funnies:

LOL! I may have to spring for a couple of those myself…. 😉
