Uncle Joel’s got a talking part in a Forgotten Weapons video!

Watching it now more than a month after the shooting, I’m amused by how completely befuddled I appear throughout. I wore the Official TUAK Sunglasses so I couldn’t see to read and also couldn’t remember the names of any of the guns we were talking about, plus the situation was hopelessly out of my comfort zone. So if it appears to you that sometimes Uncle Joel’s mind seems to wander into the weeds and play with its toes on-camera, that’s pretty much accurate. Wouldn’t expect it to become a regular feature.

Also right now the pageview counter is spinning its bearings dry, as it sometimes does briefly when TUAK gets mentioned by somebody far better known.

About Joel

You shouldn't ask these questions of a paranoid recluse, you know.

Just the musings of a non-gun expert:

Joel, I kept watching your left index finger as you were firing those toy guns, and it was always somewhere in front of the trigger guard, and thus interestingly close to the muzzle. (I suppose someone, somewhere, must have actually shot off a fingertip that way.) Ian demonstrated a very different grip on those little guns, that was less interesting to watch because there was seemingly no chance of him de-fingering himself.

  2. Collateral fame!
It would be interesting to hear sometime how you met Ian. I am guessing it was a case of him buying place nearby and you two running into each other often enough on the road that someone decided introductions were in order?

  3. Joel says:

I’m old. I shoot guns the way I shoot guns. If I’m holding it wrong, think of it as adding value for Youtube commenters who like to find things to laugh at. 🙂

No, we’ve corresponded all this century and he was one of the people who first invited me to come visit here back almost 15 years ago. When he first started doing FW videos here, I was often the one holding the camera and occasionally found my way in front of it.

  5. Klaus says:

So when do you finnish making payments on that Sig.?

  6. Michael says:

You might feel a bit out of your comfort zone, but did not look befuddled from a viewer’s perspective. I vote a most affirmative YES to future uncle Joel appearances on FW.

I don’t really want one, it would just sit in a drawer. On the rare occasions I need a CCW pistol I use a Makarov or even a 1911. If I could upgrade my pistols I’d be looking for a better revolver, the Taurus being not without flaw.

Just finished watch the video, nicely done.

I thought you did good. Hope to see you again on the videos.

  10. Jerry says:

If that was you befuddled, you’d make an excellent debater/conversationalist when you’re really on your game.
    That was pleasant to watch.
    More, Please.

  11. Willford says:

Well Klaus, I f you have trouble paying $499 & change maybe YOU should stick to TOY guns? They are normally way cheaper. This SIG is not really high for what you get. ALSO it AIN’T a glock, Thank goodness.

Enjoyed your participation in FW’s latest. Good to know Ian has a quality neighbor for his off-grid retreat. Hope to see more of you in the future. Have you met Karl & is there any chance you’ll have an upcoming cameo on an InRange episode? Ciao!

  13. Joel says:

I’ve never met Karl, no, and to the best of my knowledge no InRange stuff has ever taken place around here. They shoot all those down in Saguaro country.

  14. TsgtJoe says:

though you might have felt awkward with your delivery, I enjoyed your presentation. You come across as a sincere and interested. consumer.

This is actually a quite nice and interesting website; I’m glad I found it! I found you amazing in Ian’s video, thank you for parttaking in it!

  17. Joel says:

Thanks for saying so. Hope you stick around and become a regular.

You did fine. He really needs to introduce you to Bloke On The Range, amongst others.

To the stake with the heretic!
